GPT support

It is now possible to switch the partition table type to GPT mode, and to create partitions that are larger than 2TB. This feature is available in text mode, using a console and parted tools. *

New media 5.2stack

A new media has been created to handle the new stack of hardware drivers using the kernel 2.6.33.7. This media has to be added after the installation of the MES 5.2 ISO, as it is disabled by default.

Replace $ARCH by i586 or x86_64.

Minimum configuration required

Processor

All Intel, AMD and VIA processors.

Memory and storage

RAM: 512 MB minimum, 1 GB recommended.

Hard disk: 2 GB minimum, 4 GB recommended.

Graphics card

nVidia, ATI, Intel i8xx à x4500HD, SiS, Matrox, VIA.

Other

SATA, IDE, SCSI, SAS, SAS2: most controllers are supported.

*: Start the installation. After the language step installation, swith to the console (alt+F2). Use parted tools to swith your partition table to GPT type (default should be msdos) :
1. parted -l
2. parted /dev/sda mklabel gpt
Reboot your box, to be sure it has been taken into account. You can now create your system partition on an hard drive with GPT partition table. /boot must be put on a primary partition that is smaller than 2 Tb. You must create partition bigger than 2Tb after the partition step or after the first reboot. Parted tools must be used, so refer to the parted manual to create manually your big partition. Once done adjust your /etc/fstab to reflect your changement.
